What did you find interesting?
What I find interesting is that children doing homework mainly quotes Wikipedia as their main source of information! I know that this site check on verification of known facts, but is it trust worthy fact! This is point a view of someone entering this information and a couple of others will check all done on a voluntary process! Usually I will point out other items on our shelf for them to use for their assignments/projects and also trusted website like Britannica online.
What sort of information could your library put on a wiki - internal for staff only or external for customers to use and edit?
Fr external use a wiki where customer can start there own discussion group about books they have readied - likes and dislikes, their own suggestions on books that others can read.
Crazies, I agree with you. Student shouldn't use wikipedia, because it is the easy way, and actually "someone else" is doing their homework for them - the person who posted the wiki!!
ReplyDeleteI also totally agree! Some universities are actually giving automatic fails to students who use Wikipedia as an academic source. It also creates lazy students who tend to find the easiest reference source be it accurate or not.
